Course Description:
An intensive and comprehensive four day course combining lecture, workshop, clinical problem solving, discussion, and video demonstration addressing Sensory Integrative Dysfunction in those with Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental and learning disorders. These disorders effect persons across all chronological ages, and this course will speak to intervention across all ages, pediatrics to senior citizens. Training will focus on understanding intervention across interdependent systems: motor, sensory, emotional-relational, communication and cognitive problem solving. By treating the root deficit systems instead of isolated deficit behaviors, an individual will show spontaneity and self-motivation to seek out and then sort out increasingly positive interactions, to explore, gain body awareness, postural stability/security, coordinative skill, motor planning, interest and skill with interpersonal communication, greater organization, and abstract reasoning for learning. What people are saying: What others are saying:
"Every Pediatric OT MUST take this course - great overview of neuroanatomy & relation to applications to use in clinic." Joanie Johnson, OT
"The best and most informative workshop I have been to. The course was very collaborative and touched on all areas of concern." Catherine Dye, OTR
