Joan Arvedson

Joan Arvedson, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S, is an internationally renowned clinician and teacher. She is Program Coordinator of Feeding and Swallowing Servicesat Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. She isClinical Professor in the Division of gastroenterology,Department of Pediatrics, Medical College of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Dr. Arvedson received her BS, MS, and PhD from University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is an ASHA Fellow. Dr. Arvedson has focused patient care,teaching, and research on swallowing and feeding disorders in infants and children, delivering evidence based knowledge and immediately applicable strategies via workshops and seminars throughout the world.She emphasizes a functional whole child approach stressing the importance of collaboration among professionals and caregivers. She has 3 books in publication: Interpretation of Video fluoroscopic Swallow Studies of Infants and Children: A study guide to improve diagnostic skills and treatment planning, 2007, Northern Speech Services; Pediatric Swallowing and Feeding: Assessment and Management,2nd edition, 2002,with L. Brodsky, MD, Delmar Cengage Learning; Pediatric Video fluoroscopic Swallow Studies: A Profesional Manual with Caregiver Guidelines, 1999 (with M. Lefton Greif, PhD), Pearson Publishing. Dr. Arvedson has numerous articles focused on pediatric swallowing and feeding in peer reviewed journals.
